INDICATIONS AND USAGE For mydriasis and cycloplegia for diagnostic procedures. Tropicamide is an antimuscarinic that causes short-acting mydriasis (pupil dilation) and cycloplegia to aid examination of the lens, vitreous humor, and retina. Its effects typically last 4–8 hours, so it’s commonly used for dilated eye exams and may also be used before or after eye surgery.
