Accurate, Point-of-Care Detection of Ocular Inflammation
InflammaDry™ is a rapid, in-office diagnostic test designed to detect elevated levels of MMP-9, a key inflammatory biomarker associated with dry eye disease (DED). This qualitative immunoassay provides fast, reliable results to help eye care professionals confirm the presence of inflammation and tailor treatment plans accordingly.
Key Features & Benefits:
- Detects MMP-9 Levels ≥ 40 ng/mL – Identifies ocular surface inflammation in patients with suspected dry eye.
- Fast & Easy – Delivers visual results in 10 minutes, improving diagnostic efficiency at the point of care.
- Non-Invasive & Comfortable – Collects tear samples via the palpebral conjunctiva with a gentle sampling fleece.
- Enhances Dry Eye Diagnosis – Used alongside clinical evaluation, InflammaDry provides objective inflammatory data to guide treatment.
- Ideal for Any Practice – Requires no specialized equipment or complex training for implementation.
How InflammaDry Works:
- Collect a Tear Sample – Use the sterile sampling fleece to gently dab the palpebral conjunctiva multiple times.
- Assemble the Test Cassette – Secure the sample collector into the test cassette body for proper transfer.
- Activate the Test – Dip the absorbent tip into the buffer solution for at least 20 seconds.
- Read Results in 10 Minutes – A BLUE control line confirms a valid test; a RED line indicates elevated MMP-9 levels.
Why Test for MMP-9?
Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) is an inflammatory enzyme that contributes to corneal epithelial barrier dysfunction, exacerbating ocular discomfort, redness, and tear instability.
- Elevated in Moderate to Severe Dry Eye – Studies show a direct correlation between MMP-9 levels and dry eye severity.
- Linked to Corneal Surface Damage – Increased MMP-9 activity disrupts the tear film, leading to visual fluctuations and irritation.
- Essential for Treatment Decisions – Identifying ocular surface inflammation ensures more targeted and effective dry eye management.
Test Kit Includes:
- (20) Individually Packaged Sample Collectors
- (20) Individually Packaged Test Cassettes
- (20) Buffer Vials – Buffered salt solution with sodium azide preservative
- Package Insert – Comprehensive usage instructions
Storage & Handling:
- Store between 39°F and 77°F (4°C – 25°C)
- Single-use only – Do not reuse test components
- For in vitro diagnostic use – Prescription-only test
Interpreting Test Results:
Positive Test – BLUE control line + RED result line → MMP-9 levels ≥ 40 ng/mL detected
Negative Test – BLUE control line only → MMP-9 levels < 40 ng/mL
Invalid Test – No BLUE control line → Repeat test with a new sample
