Indications and Usage
A topical fluoroquinolone anti-infective indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of designated microorganisms.
Dosage and Administration
Instill one drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily for 7 days.
Warnings and Precautions
- Not for injection into the eye; not for subconjunctival injection or introduction into the anterior chamber
- Serious hypersensitivity and allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, have occurred with fluoroquinolones; discontinue at the first sign of rash or allergic reaction
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, including fungi (superinfection)
- Patients should not wear contact lenses if they have signs or symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis
Contraindications
None.
Adverse Reactions
The most common ocular adverse reaction is conjunctivitis. Other reported reactions include decreased visual acuity, dry eye, keratitis, ocular discomfort, ocular hyperemia, ocular pain, ocular pruritus, subconjunctival hemorrhage, and tearing.
Storage and Handling
Store at 2°C to 25°C (36°F to 77°F).

Supplied as a sterile topical ophthalmic solution, 0.5%, in a 3 mL fill low-density polyethylene bottle with a controlled dropper tip and cap.
