Indications and Usage

Treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment, such as allergic conjunctivitis, superficial punctate keratitis, and acne rosacea. The 1% strength is recommended for moderate to severe inflammation.

Dosage and Administration

Instill one or two drops into the conjunctival sac up to every hour during the day and every two hours at night initially. As inflammation subsides, reduce to one drop every four hours, then taper further based on response.

Warnings and Precautions

  • For topical ophthalmic use only; not for injection into the eye
  • Prolonged use may cause elevated intraocular pressure, glaucoma, optic nerve damage, and posterior subcapsular cataracts
  • May prolong or worsen viral, bacterial, and fungal ocular infections
  • Monitor intraocular pressure with prolonged use

Contraindications

Contraindicated in acute superficial herpes simplex keratitis, fungal and acute viral ocular diseases, ocular tuberculosis, and hypersensitivity to any component.

Adverse Reactions

Glaucoma with optic nerve damage, visual acuity and field defects, posterior subcapsular cataract formation, and secondary infection. Transient stinging or burning may rarely occur.

Storage and Handling

Store at 15°C to 25°C. Protect from light and keep tightly closed.
