How an order finds
your practice
Nothing is shared, nothing is remembered, and nothing depends on your patient naming you. The prescription itself is the routing. This page is the long version of that claim, for the doctor who wants to see the mechanism before trusting it.
One prescription,
four checkpoints
The Patient Uploads the Prescription
At checkout the patient either uploads a photo or PDF of the copy you gave them, or types the values in by hand. Smart Order reads an uploaded prescription automatically: the prescriber block, the parameters, the issue and expiration dates. A patient who types it in manually reaches the same place, one screen later.
They are never asked to name a referring doctor, enter a code, or select a practice from a list. Those mechanisms all fail the same way, which is that patients forget.
We Match the Prescriber
The prescriber details on the prescription are matched against the practice records on the platform. A match resolves to one practice and one prescribing doctor, and that is the practice the order belongs to.
This is the part that makes the rest work. Because the match comes off the document rather than off patient memory, an office that never mentions Vision Rescue to a single patient still receives the orders written against its prescriptions.
Visibly Sends the Verification
Prescription verification runs through Visibly, using the automated methods the FTC Contact Lens Rule prescribes, and every request is logged. Because the prescription has already been matched to you, the request goes to your office rather than to whatever fax number a seller happens to hold.
Correct the prescription and the corrected values are what fill. Deny it and nothing ships.
The Order Fills as Your Sale
Once verification clears, the order is placed on your ABB Optical account at the wholesale cost you negotiated, and ABB drop ships it to the patient. The patient paid through your Stripe account. Your practice is the seller of record and your name is what appears on their statement.
Your involvement in all four steps was writing the prescription.
Verification,
described honestly
This is the part most sellers describe vaguely. Here is the whole rule.
What the Rule Actually Says
Under the FTC Contact Lens Rule a seller must verify a prescription with the prescriber before filling it. The rule also permits the seller to fill the order if the prescriber does not respond within eight business hours. That second half is not a loophole somebody found. It is the rule as written, and every compliant seller in the country operates under it, including us.
We are telling you this plainly because you will find it out anyway, and a page that hid it would deserve the suspicion.
What We Can Actually Control
What changes when the prescription has been matched to the prescriber is not the eight hour window. It is where the request lands. Verification reaches the office that wrote the prescription, on the contact route that office chose, instead of an old number attached to a record somewhere.
An office that wants to review every request can. An office that never responds is treated exactly as the rule describes. Either way your staff is never asked to chase paperwork on our behalf.

When it is not
a clean order
The Prescription Has Expired
It does not fill. The patient is told the prescription is expired and pointed back to their prescribing office for an appointment, which is the outcome you would want anyway.
We Cannot Supply It Exactly
Then we do not fill it. No private label substitute, no adjacent base curve, no nearest available power. What you wrote is what ships or nothing ships.
The Doctor Has Not Joined
The patient still receives verified, authorized product, filled on our account rather than yours. Afterwards we contact the office to offer the free signup, so the next one routes to them instead.
What we hold,
and what we never do
What the Order Carries
- A name, a shipping address and an email
- The prescription values needed to fill the order
- The products purchased
- The prescribing practice the order routed to
What It Never Carries
- The medical record
- Exam findings, chart notes or imaging
- Anything your office did not put on the prescription itself
- Your wholesale cost with ABB, which we never see
See it on a real order
The mechanism is easier to trust when it is running on your own prescriptions.
