Indications and Usage
A prostaglandin analog indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
Dosage and Administration
Instill one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. It should not be administered more than once daily, as more frequent dosing may reduce the IOP-lowering effect. If used with other topical ophthalmic products, administer each at least 5 minutes apart.
Warnings and Precautions
- May cause permanent increased brown pigmentation of the iris, and pigmentation of the periorbital tissue (eyelid) and eyelashes
- May gradually change eyelashes, including increased length, thickness, and number of lashes; usually reversible
- Use caution in patients with active intraocular inflammation, aphakia, or risk factors for macular edema
- Contact lenses should be removed prior to instillation and may be reinserted 15 minutes after administration
Contraindications
None.
Adverse Reactions
The most common adverse reaction is ocular (conjunctival) hyperemia, reported in 30% to 50% of patients. Other ocular reactions at 5% to 10% included decreased visual acuity, eye discomfort, foreign body sensation, pain, and pruritus.
