Most brands on this site are companies. IRIS Eyecare is closer to one clinician's idea, brought to market. It was created by Dr. Sona Sirounian, an optometrist practicing in Sylmar, California, who has spent more than fourteen years working with dry eye disease, blepharitis and meibomian gland dysfunction, and who was the first doctor in California to offer the LipiFlow thermal pulsation system.
One product: the IRIS Tea Tree Cleanser Foam for Eyelids, a 50 mL pump bottle. It is a foaming cleanser for the eyelids, the lash line and the surrounding skin, formulated with tea tree alongside REGU-AGE, sodium hyaluronate, shea butter and chamomile.
Tea tree cleansers are a common part of a daily lid hygiene routine. This one is built to work as a facial cleanser too, so it appeals to people who would rather not keep two bottles by the sink. The humectants and shea butter make it a softer proposition than a plain tea tree wash.
Compare it against the other formats in our eyelid cleanser range. Foams are applied with a fingertip or a cotton pad and rinsed off. Wipes travel better and need no sink. Sprays suit people who prefer not to rub the lid at all. Tea tree can feel strong on sensitive skin, so if you have not used it before, trying it on the inside of a forearm first is a sensible step. Anyone working through a lid hygiene routine set by an eye care professional should stick with the order and frequency they were given.
