Indications and Usage
Steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment where bacterial infection or a risk of bacterial infection exists.
Dosage and Administration
Apply a small amount (about a half-inch ribbon) into the conjunctival sac(s) up to three or four times daily. Reduce frequency as inflammation subsides.
Warnings and Precautions
- Not for injection into the eye
- Prolonged corticosteroid use may cause glaucoma, optic nerve damage, cataracts, and corneal perforation
- Monitor intraocular pressure if used 10 days or longer
- Corticosteroids may mask or enhance ocular infection; neomycin may cause cutaneous sensitization
Contraindications
Contraindicated in most viral corneal and conjunctival diseases (including herpes simplex, vaccinia, and varicella), mycobacterial and fungal eye infections, and hypersensitivity to any component.
Adverse Reactions
Elevated intraocular pressure, posterior subcapsular cataract, secondary infection, keratitis, conjunctivitis, and delayed wound healing. Rare cases of Stevens-Johnson syndrome have been reported.
Storage and Handling
Store at 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F).
