Indications and Usage

Steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment where bacterial infection or a risk of bacterial infection exists.

Dosage and Administration

Instill one or two drops into the conjunctival sac(s). In severe disease, drops may be used hourly and tapered as inflammation subsides; in mild disease, up to four to six times daily. Shake well before use.

Warnings and Precautions

  • Not for injection into the eye
  • Prolonged corticosteroid use may cause glaucoma, optic nerve damage, cataracts, and corneal or scleral thinning
  • Monitor intraocular pressure if used 10 days or longer
  • Corticosteroids may mask or enhance ocular infection; neomycin may cause cutaneous sensitization

Contraindications

Contraindicated in most viral corneal and conjunctival diseases (including herpes simplex, vaccinia, and varicella), mycobacterial and fungal eye infections, and hypersensitivity to any component.

Adverse Reactions

Allergic sensitization, elevated intraocular pressure, glaucoma, posterior subcapsular cataract, delayed wound healing, and secondary infection. Rare cases of Stevens-Johnson syndrome have been reported.

Storage and Handling

Store upright at 15°C to 25°C. Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.
