ProMacular Defense is a dietary supplement in soft gel form, supplied in a bottle of 90 soft gels. The serving size is one soft gel, which gives 90 servings per bottle. Each soft gel supplies 12 mg lutein, 10 mg meso-zeaxanthin and 2 mg zeaxanthin, all from Tagetes erecta marigold flower extract, plus 2 mg astaxanthin from microalgae extract, in a base of organic extra virgin olive oil. Each soft gel contributes 5 calories and 0.5 g of total fat.
This is a carotenoid supplement taken once a day with food. At one soft gel daily a 90 count bottle covers 90 days, which is the three month supply the pack size is built around. The formula supports retinal health and visual function and promotes long term macular health. It carries no omega-3 oil, so it can sit alongside a separate fish oil or algae oil rather than replacing one.
