Contact lenses · Brands and manufacturers
Four manufacturers supply most soft lenses fit in US practices: Johnson & Johnson Vision, Alcon, Bausch + Lomb and CooperVision. Knowing each family by modality, astigmatism and presbyopia options makes fitting, ordering and patient conversations faster.
The big four

ACUVUE OASYS MAX 1-Day (sphere, astigmatism, multifocal, multifocal for astigmatism), ACUVUE OASYS 2-Week and ACUVUE VITA.
DAILIES TOTAL1 (sphere, astigmatism, multifocal), PRECISION1 and TOTAL30 with astigmatism and multifocal designs.
INFUSE One-Day (sphere, astigmatism, multifocal) and the ULTRA family, including ULTRA for Presbyopia and Multifocal for Astigmatism.
Biofinity (including XR and toric multifocal), MyDay (toric, multifocal, Energys), clariti 1 day and MiSight 1 day.
GP, scleral, hybrid and custom soft lenses come from specialty manufacturers and labs; see the specialty lens hub.
Most practices fit from a short list of families they know well, with a backup for each patient type.
A daily silicone hydrogel family that covers sphere, toric and multifocal keeps refits simple.
Two-week or monthly families serve price-sensitive and high-prescription patients.
Extended-range lenses such as Biofinity XR handle high powers before you move to custom.
Manufacturer rebate programs change twice a year and are tied to annual supply purchases.
Prescriptions
A contact lens prescription names a specific lens, and federal rules govern how it moves.
The prescription identifies the manufacturer and lens; sellers fill what is written.
For private label lenses, the FTC requires the manufacturer, the private label trade name and any equivalent brand on the Rx.
Release the prescription after the fitting and answer seller verification requests within eight business hours.

Most practices do well with one daily and one reusable family per manufacturer they work with, plus specialty options.
