First-line in-office protocol

Test and Restore Dry Eye Kit Test and treat in the same visit.

Check for MMP-9 inflammation, rinse and clean the ocular surface, and send symptomatic patients out with something done that day. Everything is single-use and performed by hand, so there is no device to buy and the routine fits a normal exam schedule.

In one paragraph

A single order lets the practice test MMP-9 with InflammaDry, then flush the surface with a Rinsada lavage and clean the lid margin with a ZEST treatment during the same appointment, all without capital equipment.

Three supplies, matched to the same 10 patients.

Each item is single-use and counted for the same number of patients, so nothing is left over. Every item can also be ordered separately.

Simple to run, quick to deliver.

Why busy offices start here.

Delegates to trained staff

Every step uses consumables only. A trained technician performs the test and treatment, and the doctor reviews the result.

No return visit needed

Testing and treatment happen in the same chair time, so the patient leaves with care delivered instead of a referral and a wait.

A finding plus same-day care

An MMP-9 result documents surface inflammation, and the rinse and lid cleaning address debris during the same visit.

Test, rinse and clean in one appointment.

A test-then-treat order that follows the stepwise management approach described in the TFOS DEWS II Management and Therapy Report.

Test with InflammaDry

A tear sample read in the office shows within roughly 10 minutes whether MMP-9 is elevated. A positive line gives a documented reason to treat that day.

Rinse with Rinsada

When MMP-9 is positive, the irrigating retractor directs saline into the conjunctival fornix, an area an ordinary eyewash tends to miss.

Clean with ZEST

ZEST clears residue along the lashes and lid edge; home eyelid cleansing keeps that result going until the next visit.

What the published data show.

Rinse and MMP-9

In a 2024 randomized multicenter study of 48 participants (88 eyes), 44% of eyes rinsed with the irrigating retractor tested MMP-9 negative three hours later, compared with 2.3% after a standard rinse.

InflammaDry accuracy

In a prospective multicenter trial of 206 patients, the test agreed with clinical diagnosis in 85% of dry eye patients (sensitivity) and 94% of controls (specificity). A negative MMP-9 does not rule out dry eye, since inflammation is only one of its drivers.

Same-day care and acceptance

Patients who notice a difference on the day of their visit are often more willing to return for follow-up testing and to stay on a home routine. Track your own yes rate to confirm it in your office.

An entry point for the Practice Playbook.

Because it needs no capital, the kit is a low-risk first step toward a defined dry eye service. Once patient numbers climb, the Playbook explains adding devices and procedures in stages.

Where it fits

  • Comprehensive optometry practices
  • Cataract and refractive surgery practices
  • Contact lens wearers with discomfort
  • Heavy screen users
  • Practices building a dry eye routine
  • Ocular surface preparation before surgery

Many offices make the kit the standard first step for symptomatic patients, with a trained staff lead running the routine and the doctor reviewing the result. Consistency is what turns same-day test-and-treat into a habit.

Doctor questions about the kit

What is in the Test and Restore Kit?

Twenty InflammaDry MMP-9 tests, ten Rinsada irrigating eyelid retractors and ten ZEST in-office treatments, enough for 10 patients.

Why use it as a first step?

It needs no equipment, staff can run it, and symptomatic patients receive care the same day, which makes test-and-treat an easy routine before more extensive workups.

Is any device required?

No. All three steps use consumables and are done by hand, so there is no equipment purchase or dedicated room.

Can technicians perform it?

Yes. Trained staff can perform the test and treatment under the doctor's supervision, and the doctor reviews the findings.

What does the rinse do?

The Rinsada retractor flushes saline into the conjunctival fornix to wash out debris. A 2024 randomized study reported many more MMP-9-negative eyes three hours after this rinse than after a standard rinse.

Can InflammaDry be billed?

InflammaDry is CLIA-waived and practices commonly report it under CPT 83516 with the QW modifier. Coverage differs by payer and Medicare contractor, so confirm with your billing team.

Can I order the items separately?

Yes. Each is sold on its own, but the kit costs $51 less than ordering the same quantities separately.

How does it relate to the Practice Playbook?

It belongs in stage one: a defined routine that needs no capital, while later stages add testing devices and procedures as volume grows.

Who can order it?

Licensed eye care practices, for use in the office, through a Vision Rescue Pro wholesale account. Open an account and your pricing and ordering unlock after verification.

One order, ten patients treated the day they are tested.
